Subject	Clutch slave cylinder life expectancy?

Message	I installed a new Nissan clutch master and slave cylinder on my Z maybe 3 years ago. Well today while driving I went to push my clutch pedal in to down shift, to stop at a light, and the pedal went right to the floor. Looks like the slave cylinder is done. It has maybe 15,000km's on it (9320 miles) This seems like a rather early death for the slave cylinder. Any idea what would cause such a short life on the cylinder?
